Belonging to the AWFamily of products, the AW189 (8.3/8.6 tonne) combines superior payload and range with advanced technologies to successfully operate a wide range of missions. Unique features of the helicopter include the main transmission’s capability to run without oil for 50 minutes and a built-in Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). The AW189K version, equipped with new Safran Aneto 1K engine, will extend the range of operations of the aircraft to high altitude and high temperature conditions.

The AW189 features an advanced avionics suite with fully integrated digital glass cockpit, incorporating superior situational awareness technologies and a comprehensive range of sensor options. In case of electrical emergency the APU ensures the continued operation of the rescue equipment (hoist and lights), radios and medical devices in flight.

EXCEPTIONAL CABIN FLEXIBILITY

The AW189 features the largest cabin in its class and a spacious baggage compartment accessible from the passenger cabin in flight as well as from two external doors. The helicopter can accommodate up to 9 personnel with up to 3 stretchers and a full suite of life-support equipment. Large sliding doors ensure easy stretcher loading also during hoist operations.

The AW189 exceeds the airworthiness requirements of the most recent European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)/Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) amendments in the transport category, qualifying the aircraft for the most IOGP requirements of the major Oil and Gas companies. The cockpit design incorporates advanced situational awareness technologies which reduce crew workload.

EXCEPTIONAL CABIN FLEXIBILITY

The AW189 benefits from the widest cabin in its class, configured with 16 seats as standard with the option of a high-density 19-seat layout. Seats are aligned to large push-out windows, exceeding Type IV emergency exits requirements. The cabin can be quickly reconfigured for MEDEVAC operations. The helicopter features large sliding doors to allow quick passenger entry/egress and offers a high-capacity baggage compartment, externally accessible from both sides.

EXTENSIVE MULTI-ROLE CAPABILITY

The large, comfortable cabin with flat floor can be also reconfigured for Limited SAR (Lim. SAR) operations. The AW189 is the only super-medium helicopter with a Full Ice Protection System (FIPS) in addition to a Limited Ice Protection System (LIPS) to operate in what would be prohibitive conditions for other helicopters.
